Progress on Vellux

Clod 9 sent us off the same way she greeted us; with a screaming sandstorm.

We finally left last night with the Blue Ruins in tow. None of the repairs we attempted over the past 6 months there seem to have gotten us any closer to space-ready. We re-programmed the sentience systems and repaired the primary lobe only to find that the advanced intercessor wouldn't power-up. And we still don't know if the intercessor works because when we rewired a problem connector the whole cognator went silent (right after it flashed that the inertions weren't charging).

In light of these developments we have made the difficult decision to modernize the Blue Ruins infrastructure with new propulsion and logic. I had personally hoped all-along to keep the Ruins restored in original condition, but the costs are growing beyond anything near sustainability and an opportunity has arisen that was just too good to pass up.

There is heartening news to impart...

The Blue Ruins modernization has been fully funded through 2012 and we have relocated to Vellux thanks to the generosity and vision of one great friend of our Project.

The new facilities on Vellux are a big step up for those of us who've been on this project for years.  All of us are walking around pinching one another to see if we're dreaming. Plenty of room to work and lots of great equipment has been brought in for the Blue Ruins transformation. If everything goes reasonably according to schedule we may be looking at test flights as soon as June 1st!

Thanks to all of you who have been supporting this project through the rough times.  It is my sincere hope that you will understand the decision to modernize the Blue Ruins,  At the end of the day it is the lure of the sounds beyond the stars that draws us together, and this will have us out among them in the surest and quickest fashion.

Sincerely,
The Professor
